Hello,
Here is the news in the run up to Christmas 2007…
REB BRINGS YOU A UK FIRST!
This morning, before the general public was allowed in, I was fortunate enough to visit the International Motorcycle and Scooter show at the NEC, Birmingham. The UK Royal Enfield importer, Watsonian Squire, is showing the new Royal Enfield engine there for the first time. I saw it and what a beauty it is! I have written an article about the engine, plus a new Bullet variant, The Woodsman, that was also revealed at the show. You can download it free, including photographs I took of the engine, from the Royal Enfield Books website at www.royalenfieldbooks.com
While you’re there, please do look at the two new Royal Enfield items we have just released (cunningly timed as ideal Christmas presents!).
REVS RELEASED
Available now is a reproduction of the complete collection of official Royal Enfield factory magazines, REVS. With over 235 A4 pages, this fascinating tome covers in entirety all 17 editions produced by the factory between 1946 and 1955.
You can see the book and some sample pages from it on our website books page.
REVS includes technical pages by Tony Wilson-Jones; features on racing and trials Royal Enfields; dealers around the world; production in the factory and, of course, tons of period photographs of Royal Enfield motorcycles.
Putting this book together was a real labour of love for me as every single page required detailed restoration work, but I hope you will agree that the work was worth it. This collection of magazines is a time capsule of the life of Royal Enfield and its workers and will provide hours and hours of enjoyment for £16.95.
THE GLORY YEARS
Also new is a CD of 1,100 original Royal Enfield photographs, 1898 to 1966. Called Royal Enfield – The Glory Years, the CD has been put together by Royal Enfield enthusiast and former editor of The Gun magazine, Doug Young. He has spent several years collecting, referencing and scanning these images. Together, Doug and I have carefully restored each photograph and we have added captions, which name the year of each picture, plus a simple description of what each photograph represents. The CD runs on any computer as a slideshow and I am sure it will be prove a useful reference tool for restorers as well as providing hours of nostalgic pleasure for any owner. The CD costs just £8.95. Visit the CD/ DVDs page of our website at www.royalenfieldbooks.com
FREE DOWNLOAD
When you visit the site be sure to also download a colour advert from 1952 that I’ve just acquired and scanned. It’s one of the most stunning period advertisements I’ve ever seen. I’ve reproduced it in high resolution so that you can print and frame it if you like! You can find it, along with the new Bullet engine article, on page 2 of our downloads section.
TELEPHONE ORDERING LINE NOW OPEN
We are able to take orders on the telephone this Christmas for anyone who would prefer to pay this way. The number is (+44) 0161 494 6665.
This is the first time I have uttered these words this year, and it feels way too early. Nevertheless, I sincerely wish you a very peaceful Christmas and, as ever, all the very best for 2008.
